The Transformative Journey of Music in Healing and Learning
“A computer Science graduate turned into a full-time music therapist dedicating my life to people in need from different age groups hailing from various backgrounds”
Early life:
Born in a middle-class joint family though my mother had learnt music before marriage she had no much encouragement in her in laws place. Having blessed with a daughter, she always wanted to support and encourage me in what she wasn’t supported with.
My mother was the main pillar of support to join me into a Carnatic classical vocal music class made me pass my Junior and Senior grade exams in the same. She encouraged me to perform in many places. From when I was a school girl, I used to sing in many traditional programs organised by temples and other sabhas. With my mother’s help and support slowly, I learnt different genres of music. Later, when I was in college I started performing in many teams in various genres.
I always wanted to do something through music to help people.

I am very fortunate and blessed to have these 2 super heroes and gurus in my family.
They have always encouraged and supported me in whatever I learn and do.
I have been learning music from a very young age since I was 4 yrs till now training in different genres.
My True Inspiration and Support
My mom was a speech therapist watching her closely work with children with neuro divergent issues, speech issues, hearing issues, post operative aphasic, hoarseness, etc
I have always wanted to help people with various physical, psychological, neurological, physiological, emotional, cognitive issues, etc using music as a therapeutic intervention
I had always been researching of Music Therapy how it can help people with various challenges in different ways. As I wanted to help people through music, I pursued various courses to help people in need with the support of my super hero my dearest mother.
“Man Needs his Difficulties because they are necessary to enjoy Success” as quoted by our Abdul Kalam sir.
I married a person whom I met in college and loved but due to unforeseen circumstances, the marriage didn’t last long.
After which my mother stood beside me in every step of my life for me to become the person I am now.
After sometime I developed few health issues where I was supported by mother who told me to use my own music to feel better and heal. As per her suggestion I did the same and was out of all my health issues and got motivated to use Music as a Therapeutic intervention to help and support people in need.
Then was the time I met my guru Dr Meenakshi Ravi who guided me through my journey made me independent in Music Therapy field where I am able to support, guide and help people with various issues through Music as a Therapeutic Intervention.
“Be the Change you wish to see in the World” as quoted by Mahatma Gandhiji
I wanted to do more to help these people. As I alone cannot reach out to so many people, I started being a resource person to pass on and impart knowledge that I have been bestowed with to train and guide people as a course coordinator, facilitator, faculty and guest faculty for many music therapy courses and programs from different institutions across India.
I have been giving many awareness programs and workshops on various dimensions of Music and Music Therapy.
“Knowledge should be shared and passed on, rather than kept to oneself” this is what I have always believed in and doing my best to do the same so we have more people to help the people in need

“Thinking should become your capital no matter what ups and downs come across in your life” as quoted by Abdul Kalamji.
Although I came a long way in life with my mother’s support I lost her to covid, the greatest pillar of strength and support of my life.
I was truly devastated and wanted to give up on life, I was reminded of her positive thinking and smiling attitude come what may in life and took it as an inspiration to do more in life.
With her blessings I am married to a very nice person - a counselling psychologist, who is so understanding, supportive and helpful in my journey as a Music Therapist and life as well.
