Preity Zinta calls Kal Ho Naa Ho her destiny.
The past episode of Koffee with Karan featuring Preity Zinta has resurfaced online which involves the discussion regarding her film Kal Ho Naa Ho. The film remains one of the most loved projects of her career while the viral clip emphasizes on her reaction to Kareena Kapoor Khan losing the film as she rejected it earlier. It reflects the renewed interest of audiences in behind-the-scenes casting of a popular movie.
The clip highlights that the film director Karan Johar initially approached Kareena for the role. The reports suggest that she didn’t took up the project as she asked the similar fee to Shah Rukh Khan, due to this the role was then offered to Preity Zinta.
In the interview when she was asked about stepping into Kareena’s place, she addressed the question with metaphorical response and compared it with trying jeans in a store. She stated that if someone doesn’t buy them, they don’t belong to them and also emphasized that once she accepted the film it becomes hers while continuing that the film was “in her destiny”.
While the news remains in talks among audiences, the other co-stars including Saif Ali Khan shared their views and reactions. He said that he cannot even imagine anyone except Preity in the role. The reports also suggested a significant fallout between Karan Johar and Kareena Kapoor after the incident and their relationship remained strained for years. The media called it “cold war” where none of them were fighting openly but not close either while after years they again collaborated for film Kurbaan. Among all the renewed attention is that Preity Zinta is also preparing her comeback with the film Lahore 1947 which is set to release in 2026.
