Kutch Minor Gangrape Case; 3 Arrested
GUJARAT, KUTCH - In a shuddering case, which has once again validated the apprehension that the safety of women and young children in the area is under great danger, a 15 year-old girl was reportedly gang-raped by half-a-dozen men in the Bhachau taluka of the Kutch district. This occurred on February 5, 2026, and has resulted in a large police manhunt and caused local outrage.
The victim is a minor girl and the police complaint filed by the father of the victim at the Samakhiyali police station indicated that the minor girl was enticed in a lonely area on a misleading pretext. The main suspect (a farm worker who was a known person to the girl because they worked in neighboring farms) is said to have picked her to the place where 5 other men were waiting.
The victim claimed that she was raped by all the six men in a turn. To make sure that she says nothing, the offenders allegedly told her that they were going to kill her brother in case she informed anyone of the experience. The girl reported the trauma and the seriousness of the threats to her family prompting the FIR to be registered on February 7.
Law and Procedures of Action:
The Kutch East police came into immediate action after the complaint was received. Superintendent of police (SP) Sagar Bagmar admitted that a search has been organized by a Special Investigation Team.
Incidents: There are 3 farm laborers that have been booked and arrested as of February 10.
Continued search: Three additional suspects are at large and various police units are making warrants in the district to capture them.
As per Medical/Forensic Evidence, The victim has attended a medical examination and Forensic Science laboratory (FSL) has obtained vital evidence at the scene of the crime to impose a strong case.
The victim will be asked to declare before a magistrate under Section 183 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) so that her statement will be recorded to be presented during the trial.
Community Reaction:
Bachau has been hit by a shockwave due to the incident. The local activists have demanded a quick court trial to make sure that the minor is put under justice promptly. The village has also been tightened to curb any communal or social riots after the arrests.
The concentration of the investigation is still on the three remaining suspects as more effort is made to capture the three suspects. The police have been reassuring the citizens to seek all leads and the culprits will stand to face the full wrath of the law.
