Karishma Kapoor returns to redefine dance on TV
Karishma Kapoor is back as a judge of one of the most popular reality show “India’s Best Dancer” season 5. The show is scheduled to premier on 9th may, 2026. Addressing the audience in the most recent promo of the show, she highlighted the fresh approach of storytelling and a new definition of best in dance. She emphasized on the statements like “India wala dance” which significantly means dance expressive and rooted in culture, not just technical or western style.
Back to 50th episode celebration of Indian Idol, Karishma with her appearance promoted the show and called herself as a “fourth unofficial judge” there. Her return as judge at India’s Best Dancer is not a routine comeback as she represents the 90s Bollywood dance culture which still resonates strongly with people. This step reflects a push for mass appeal and combining the classic Bollywood with modern choreography.
The phrase India wala dance reflects a shift to more regional, folk, and culturally rooted styles rather than focusing on pure western formats. While the reality shows are saturated this new season seems to differentiate from other shows like Dance Plus or DD Super Moms and presents itself as more authentic and most importantly with new vision.
