“Go Buy a Mirror”: Harmanpreet Reveles Coach’s Inspiring Message
Indian women’s cricket team captain Harmanpreet Kaur recently revealed about the crucial moment from India’s successful 2025 Women’s World Cup campaign. She shared the strong message that their coach Amol Muzumdar who is usually calm and soft spoken delivered after the three continuous defeats of team. Her revelation came during the JioStar’s “Unstoppable” program, where players share insights into their world cup journey.
While India began the tournament positively it lost momentum in its almost closing phase as it suffered three consecutive wins against England, Australia and South Africa. These loses further raised concerns on India’s chances in the tournament which not only caused the team face criticism from fans but put the players into intense pressure.
Soon after their defeat against England coach Amol Muzumdar addressed the squad and said “Go and buy a mirror and see what you’re doing and what you need to do” which meant to ask players for self-reflection and accountability. Harmanpreet revealed that it was the first time she saw him raise his voice when he emphasized the players to honestly assess their performances by themselves instead of looking for excuses.
Moving further, players took his advice while accepting the criticism and reflected their own performances. This small dressing room conversation became the turning point for the team as it encouraged them to not only improve performances but contributed to regroup the team as well as to regain confidence in the remaining matches. Harmanpreet described this as one of biggest factor that helped the team to overcome setbacks and then eventually wining the World Cup trophy.
