Disha Pardeshi shares insides of Raja Shivaji

The recently released film Raja Shivaji is a superhit movie featuring major stars including Sanjay Dutt. The film is directed by Riteish Deshmukh and is associated with the historical episodes from the life of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj including his conflicts with Afzal Khan.

The film is already running successful in theaters after days of release, while the supporting character Disha Pardeshi who played the role of Afzal Khan’s wife opened up about the specific scene shoot. The scene involves the incidents when Afzal Khan kills his wife and her body is then throwed into water. The scene demanded the actor to depict the role of underwater death without any dramatic struggle but just portraying the realistic stillness. This was a bit challenging for her as she was initially unaware of the technical difficulty during casting and possessed only basic swimming knowledge.

Due to this she had to undergo specialized underwater training sessions where she practiced without any oxygen support to maintain realism. She practiced for longer hours or more than 12 hours but other challenges arose with the heavy rainfall during shoot. She switched multiple times between underwater scenes and harsh weather which further contributed to fear factors due to changing weather conditions.

Despite all such challenging the scene was executed properly as the director Riteish Deshmukh maintained a supportive environment. The body doubles were available and the actors were provided with flexibility. What interests the fans even more is the fact that Disha performed a 10-12feet jump herself. The film used no VFX, AI, or body doubles even when they had choice and strongly focused on realistic film making.
