Delhi moves ahead with 2,500 women support plan

The Delhi government is all set to launch the 2,500 rupees monthly financial assistance for women soon as the scheme was the key promise during the elections and is now moving towards its implementation. The registration portal is expected to be open from June 2026 after all technical preparations and the officials are completing the beneficiary verifications to ensure transparency in payments as well as to maintain proper implementation.

Under the scheme eligible women will be able to receive 2,500 rupees financial aid every month directly in their bank accounts through DBT. The scheme expects to benefit the 17lakh women in Delhi and the government has allocated the major budget to ensure smooth functioning of scheme. Through the scheme the government aims to improve the financial independence and economic security conditions for women from weaker sections.

Clear guidelines and rules have been introduced to ensure only the targeted or weaker sections are benefited and prevents the misuse use by people who are not the real needers of benefits. The eligibility criteria require the applicants to have a Delhi Resident Proof, Aadhar Card, Bank Account details and income certificate or BPL proof. It may exclude women with government jobs and penalty benefits. While the scheme creates huge public interest, the oppositions question its delay.
