Budget 2026 Preview: The Finance Minister starts important talks before the budget, hints at tax changes and a rise in manufacturing

The Finance Minister, Nirmala Sitharaman, held the first round of pre-budget talks in New Delhi to help plan India's economic future for 2026-27.  Senior officials and top economists sat around the table, which is a sign that this year's budget will focus a lot on structural changes, especially in manufacturing, taxes, and growth for working professionals.

 

 Some of the main topics of discussion were: making the system more efficient by changing direct taxes; focusing more on manufacturing as a way to create jobs and boost exports; expanding the tax base to give more people power; and increasing investment in the country.  While we wait for the official Budget presentation, it's clear that women who work in professional services, own small businesses, work as freelancers, or are corporate leaders should pay attention to this space.
