Actor Akansha Ranjan and director Sharan Sharma tied the knot in Mumbai on July 11, 2026, in the garden of the couple's residence. The wedding kept things simple, the guest list was anything but, with Alia Bhatt, Ranbir Kapoor, Sonakshi Sinha, Karan Johar, among others close friends were papped celebrating the union of the happy couple. The wedding was followed by a lavish reception, and celebrations concluded on July 12 with a grand party attended by many more familiar faces from Bollywood industry.

Alia duty as Bridesmaid

What set this wedding apart wasn’t how the wedding goes on but it was how involved Alia Bhatt was in every step of her childhood friend’s wedding. Then, during the sangeet held on Friday, she truly lit up the dance floor, performing to the evergreen Bollywood number "Maahi Ve" from Kal Ho Naa Ho, joined by the bride's sister Anushka Ranjan Kapoor and Anushka's husband, actor Aditya Seal.

On the wedding day itself, Alia embraced the traditional responsibilities of a bridesmaid, personally tying the kalire onto Akansha's chooda ahead of the ceremony — a ritual that typically reserved for the bride's closest friends and family. For the occasion, she turned up in a striking Indian etire wearing purple golden sari with maang tika and earrings paired with round sunglasses added to her glam, drawing attention as always for her sense of style, even while playing a supporting role to the bride.
