Sonam Bajwa Shares the Real Reason She Turned Down Big Bollywood Roles

Punjabi actress Sonam Bajwa recently opened up about why she’s passed on several Bollywood offers — and it has nothing to do with scripts, co-stars, or schedules. The reason? Kissing scenes.

In a heartfelt chat with Film Companion, Sonam revealed that earlier in her career, she wasn’t comfortable doing intimate scenes on screen — especially the kind that involved kissing. She admitted that it wasn’t just about personal boundaries, but also how her family and the people in her home state, Punjab, might react.

“I used to overthink it,” she shared, reflecting on her earlier days. “I worried about what my parents would say, or whether the audience back home would judge me for it.”

What surprised her, though, was how open-minded her parents turned out to be when she finally brought up the subject. According to Sonam, they reassured her that if it’s part of her profession, they understand — and support her choices.

Now, looking back, she wishes she had that conversation with them sooner.
