Kiara Advani Becomes New Face of Maybelline New York

In a significant stride that will infuse the glamour of Bollywood with a much needed touch of international beauty, Indian movie actor Kiara Advani has been appointed as the new brand ambassador of Maybelline New York in India which will mark a new beginning of the legendary cosmetic and beauty brand in India.

Maybelline New York, a global beauty brand with reach and a pre-eminent access to trend-setting beauty products and an easily-confident, relatable, trendy style, announced the collaboration this week, suggesting Advani as the ideal fit to the developing image of the brand. Both the fans and beauty insiders were excited by the announcement, which they consider as the continuation of a bigger movement where Indian celebrities can be seen as the presenters of global brands.

Central to the launch is a new range of Maybelline New York Serum Lipstick, which targets to give the user bold colour and also nourishing care, one of the lines of products which were selected in order to be diverse thus capturing the diversity in Indian beauty. The new lipstick comes in 13 colors, including both satin and matte, reflecting the need of a contemporary customer to wear the shade that will match their personality and vibe instead of mere changing of the look.

Kiara Advani, known worldwide as the lead in the popular films Shershaah and Jugjugg Jeeyo and whose appearance on screen after a few years has made her a universal icon of any age bracket, has condemned makeup as a means of self-expression. She claimed the collaboration is particularly meaningful as Maybelline aims to make people share themselves in their genuine terms.

Kiara said, “make-up is a mood and mindset, and therefore changes with my presentation to the world, so I said at the launch, make-up would be a mood and an attitude”. This kind of statement represents a bigger change in the beauty marketing industry where the ideas of authenticity and of being self-assured are becoming more important than the perceptions of perfection.

The General Manager of Maybelline New York in India also stressed that this cooperation pertains to inclusive beauty, which implies providing the products that are intuitive and natural in a broad scope of skin colors and lifestyle. The colour, Wild Card, which Advani uses in the initial campaign advertisements, is full of confidence and contemporary femininity.

With this announcement, Kiara Advani is in a cohort that is increasingly becoming an Indian star who is contributing to the narrative of global brands. With the changes in international and domestic beauty markets, her position with Maybelline New York identifies the ways in which not only are Bollywood icons entertainment ambassadors but also cultural ambassadors of fashion and beauty promotions and self-image.
