Smriti Mandhana Achieves 800+ Rating in ICC WODIs, Secures Place in Rare Club

Indian women cricket sensation Smriti Mandhana has been in sublime touch this year, and it is no surprise that she is one among the best batterers in contemporary women's cricket. In only 14 innings, she has aggregated 928 runs at a remarkable average of 66.28. She is only 43 runs off from achieving the highest runs aggregated by anyone in a calendar year and has already become the second player ever to touch 900 runs in it. With four centuries to her credit already, she now jointly holds the record for most centuries in women's ODIs in one calendar year. Her fourth century in it was a dazzling 50-ball century against Australia at New Delhi that happened to be second quickest in the format and also the quickest by any cricketer from India, male or female.

Although India fell 43 runs short when they were chasing Australia's huge total of 412, Mandhana's innings gave her side the top second-innings score in women's ODI cricket. Throughout the three-match series, her scores of 58, 117, and 125 showed her consistency and class. They propelled her to the number one grade A level in the Smriti Mandhana WODI ratings system, where she achieved a personal best score of 818 points.

This Smriti Mandhana ICC achievement also placed her in an elite list. She is now one of only 14 batters in women’s ODIs to cross the 800-point mark, and she stands at No.11 on the all-time rankings list. By doing so, she entered a Smriti Mandhana rare club, joining legendary Indian cricketer Mithali Raj, who had once reached 880 points. Her recent performances not only reflect her brilliance with the bat but also her nascent leadership qualities for Indian cricket. Her performances are rewriting histories and building benchmarks for generations to come for women cricketers.
