In the ever-evolving world of healthcare, where compassion and precision go hand in hand, few stories resonate as deeply as that of Col (Retd) Madhumita Dhall. With a remarkable career spanning over 36 years, she currently serves as the Director of Nursing at the Rajiv Gandhi Cancer Institute and Research Centre, Delhi. Born on 29th June 1964, Col Dhall's calling towards nursing began with a heartfelt desire to support individuals during their most vulnerable moments. “I always had a desire to help others and make a positive impact on people’s lives,” she shares. Today, she is not just a leader but a pioneer in redefining the role of nurses in cancer care and hospital administration.
A Journey Forged in Courage
Commissioned into the Military Nursing Services in 1989, Col Dhall is an alumnus of the prestigious College of Nursing, AFMC Pune. Her career with the Indian Army spanned 23 years, during which she served in high-pressure zones such as Jammu & Kashmir, the North East, and Punjab. She has stood tall amid adversity – from navigating insurgency-hit areas to managing large-scale casualties in the Nagaland Army ambush of 1998.
Her military service wasn’t just about discipline; it was about innovation, leadership, and an undying spirit of service. These values continue to define her work even today, especially in the dynamic field of oncology nursing.
“My mother, (Late) Mrs. Niharika Dhall, was my greatest inspiration. Her resilience and grace in the face of life’s challenges taught me that dedication and education can move mountains,” she recalls fondly.

Col Dhall's post-military journey has been no less groundbreaking.
