Dr. Sangamithra: Healing minds, changing lives. A Neurologist’s journey
A dedication to healing minds, raising awareness and aspiring new generation.
In the complex and demanding world of modern medicine, few specializations demand both scientific precision and human empathy quite like neurology. Dr. Sangamithra has mastered both. A practicing neurologist with a career defined by clinical excellence and community commitment, she has emerged as one of the voices in her field.
A calling born from awareness
Dr. Sangamithra’s journey into neurology was not accidental- but a purposeful. It was the glaring lack of public awareness about the neurological disorder, particularly stroke, that first drew her towards this specialty. She recognised early in her medical journey that stroke is one of the leading causes of person death and disability. For Dr. Sangamithra, medicine was never about treating patients in a hospital ward, it was about reaching people before they ever needed to walk through those doors.
Encouraged by her parents- with her father serving as her enduring role model. She took her first step into a medical field with a sense of mission. “They gave me strength to achieve the best in my life.” She reflects that foundation of familial strength and belief in oneself would become the bedrock upon which her entire career rests.
Milestone of a meaningful career
The turning point in Dr. Sangamithra’s life came when she formally joined the field of Neurology and earned the title she had worked relentlessly toward — Neurologist. Since then, her professional journey has been marked by a series of commendable achievements. She has won the Best Paper Presentation on stroke at a National Conference and clinched the Best Poster Presentation at an International conference in Spain in 2019 — a recognition that placed her work on a global platform.
But for Dr. Sangamithra, no accolade compares to the moment a patient recovers under her care. “The recovery of patients being treated by me encourages me to move forward and further improve my skills,” she says, with quiet conviction. It is this patient-first philosophy that defines the heart of her practice.
Championing community health
Dr.Sangamithra’s regularly organizes free health camps for stroke and epilepsy patients, and provides free medicines to those who cannot afford treatment- a gesture that speaks volumes about her character and commitment to equitable healthcare. Her most significant achievement, she affirms, has been raising public awareness about the early recognition of stroke and other neurological disorders- an effort that has the potential to save countless lives.
Balance, support and self-belief
Behind every accomplished professional is a support that holds them steady. For Dr. sangamithra that support comes from her family- especially from her husband Dr. Krishna Chaithanya, whose unwavering presence has helped her navigate and balancing in medical career with personal life. “Maintaining a stable mind with the help of my family helps me maintain a balance.” She says.
The core principle that guides her, is simple but powerful – “Always Believe and Trust myself.” It is a mantra that carried her from earliest days of medicine to a Consultant Neurologist.
“Keep your face always toward the sunshine-and shadows will fall behind you.”
A message to young women
To the young women the message Dr. Sangamithra gives –“Keep fit and stay Healthy. Trust on yourself and Happiness follows.” It is an advice of a woman who lived by these words and still counting on them.
In a world that overlook the quite warrior of Healthcare, Dr. Sangamithra story is a reminder that some most transformative works happen not in spotlights, but in a steady, determined pursuit of awareness, healing and human dignity.
