BSF’s Women Scales Everest, Sings Vande Mataram at Summit
The Border Security Force (BSF) makes headlines with their historic achievement of first all-women mountaineering team to scale Mount Everest. The team successfully covered the 8,848.86 meters peak at 8am (IST) on May 21, 2026. This marks as one of the greatest achievements for the force where the BSF women showcased with their endurance and determination.
The team members included four constables namely Kauser Fatima from Ladakh, Munmun Ghosh from West Bengal, Rabeka Singh from Uttarakhand and Tsering Chorol from Kargil to led the historic climb. Prior to this major success the team underwent from a specialized training at Atal Bihari Vajpayee Institute of Mountaineering and Allied Sports. Additionally, the mission was the result of months spent practicing in high altitude and technical trainings.
After the climb the team sang Vande Mataram in order to celebrate as well as to give tribute to 150th anniversary of “Vande Mataram” and BSF’s Diamond Jubilee year. Moreover, the mission itself was called “Mission Vande Mataram” which meant to symbolize patriotism, women empowerment, national service and mental & physical resilience under extreme conditions.
The team received public praise and appreciations from several prominent leaders including Amit Shah who described it as a proof of “Naari Shakti” as well as Praveen Kumar who congratulated them through radio communication from base support. Their success also exemplifies as how women are breaking barriers in mostly male-dominated fields.
