Introduction:
M.Vaanmathi is a founder of Makwell Container Care, Chennai. She started this company, after 14 years in another company. In that company, she joined as a typist, and after a few years of struggle when she resigned she became the regional manager. So from there, she learned everything, the struggle for the container work, and then started her own company Makwell Container Care. She is in the business of fabricating shipping containers for homes, restaurants, cafe offices, farmhouses, and many more. She has been doing this for more than 35 years.
Initially, she faced many challenges not only in her professional life but also in her personal life. As a woman, she struggles a lot in this field. Since it is a male-dominated field her competitors started troubling her. After that, when she opened her place, local goons started causing problems to her. The turning point for her was when she started taking government orders.
Challenges and Achievements:
Talking about her achievements she feels her biggest achievement is starting her own business in Chennai. She comes from a village and a middle-class family, her family is also not well educated and she is a first-degree holder in her generation, therefore starting her ventures in Chennai is a great achievement for her. For this achievement, she received various awards from the Tamil Nadu government and nominations.
In her previous company, she faced challenges from her seniors, as she was hardworking and a truthful employee. Still, she did good things for the company. As the container care field is a man-dominant field, she faces a lot of problems from the surrounding people. The main problem occurred when the local goon got involved and told her to leave. She fought with them but there was no use as people were not helping. But eventually, she overcomes it and keep going forward in this field.
Personal Insights:
She only follows one principle which is to earn money without causing trouble to others. Like any other woman, she also feels that family support is a must for everyone. She feels that her husband is the biggest supporter of her. He was there for her through thick and thin.
Impact and Visions:
For Vaanmathi, she feels that a leader should know the work before passing down the orders. That can only happen if a leader should know about it, which only comes from experience.
Currently, she is collaborating with Chennai Nehru Stadium. She is also doing projects with big restaurants, some stalls, some hotels, and some temples. Recently she joined hands with the schools too. Her future goal is to build a home for homeless people.
Conclusion:
At last, she encourages young women to come into the container field because there is a common misassumption that this field is only for men. She also encourages women to start their ventures with proper knowledge and research. She said that one should have at least 5 years of experience to open up their own company. She added that if one wants good things happen to them, one should do good things.
