India Registers 64-runs victory Against Pakistan
India secured a commanding 64-run victory against Pakistan in ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Group 1 clash. While the Indian cricket team faced early setbacks, Smriti Mandana delivered an important inning of 68 runs in 44 balls. Following the momentum, Harmanpreet Kaur made significant contribution of 36 runs and Richa Ghosh’s quick 34 off 17 balls helped the team reach the total of 170/6 in 20 overs.
Despite the initial positive momentum Pakistan struggled to chase the total after middle overs and Muneeba Ali remained the top scorer with 41 runs. However, while Muneeba Ali gave hope to Pakistan during the chase, Deepti Sharma’s spell of 5 wickets for 10 runs and Shree Charani’s three wickets significantly became the match-winning spells and bowled out the whole Pakistan women’s cricket team in 17 overs with the score of 106.
Deepti Sharma’s outstanding all-round contribution in the match earned her Player of the Match. This victory further improves net run rate of the team, resulting in a valuable boost in the tournament. Moreover, it strengthens India’s position in the group, while Pakistan looks forward to recover in its next fixture.
