Introduction:
Dr S.V.Janani Balamurugan born on 11/3/1991 at Salem,Tamil Nadu. She did her schooling from Cluny matriculation and Sri Sarada matriculation. Growing up she also looked up to her father who was a “Union secretary”, in that she helped out numerous people with their problems in their professional lives. Shee also helps people with emotional well-being. People say it is easier to work with machines than people, but her thinking is different from others, she feels easy to work with people. With this inspiration and the inspiration from her father’s work, she decided to make a career in mental health.
She started her college education at Mahendra Engineering College with a Bachelor of Engineering in Computer Science. Next to pursue her career in psychotherapy and to help people with their mental health, she did a Master's in counseling and psychotherapy from Tamilnadu University. Afterward, she did PhD in Acupuncture PhD in Diabetes Mellitus Type 1 and Type2 from Colombo University so that she could learn to balance her body energy in a natural way without medication.
She started her career by practicing counseling sessions in schools with kids and parents, after some time when she gained some relevant experience in this field she started her clinic in Chennai named “Anu's Happy Junction”. As her work in school is already recognized, her clinic soon gained popularity without any marketing, because of the happy parents’ references. Many parents started coming to her clinic for the counseling session and soon people turned out to be interested in acupuncture treatments.
Her career highlights are when she educated women about the importance of being financially independent and why it is necessary to be emotionally strong with her certification courses.
Everyone has a turning point in their career where they face new difficulties in the career path they choose, and that turning point in Dr.SV Janani's life came when she moved to Bangalore. In Bangalore, she opened her clinic like Chennai but the strategy is different from her city, and took a few months for her to understand this.
Challenges and Achievements:
Business can be built without marketing but it cannot grow without marketing. The same problem was faced by Dr. SV Janani when she opened her clinic in Bangalore. One of the biggest challenges she faced in Bangalore was how to market her clinic.
The most significant achievement in her life is that she empowered more than 100 to become Emotionally strong and financially independent. Also, she educated more than 200 people on various mental health perspectives by conducting online courses. She also educated couples on what is a “Relationship and complete parenting guide”.
For her dedication towards the development of social work worldwide, she was awarded Bharat Prathibha Sammaan, 2024 at Government of India, Delhi, India. She was also awarded the Indian Icon Healthcare and Social Care Support Award, at Indian Icon, 2024 in Tamil Nadu India. She got the Women Icon Award2024 at the Women’s World Record & Awards of International, 2024 Karnataka, India. Exemplary service in Public Healthcare, at Asia’s Top 100 Influential Women Awards, 2023 Tamil Nadu, India. Also awarded with Best Health Care Provider of the Year, 2023 Best Health care provider of the year, at Swift Lift, 2023, Karnataka, India. In 2023 she was in fifty under fifty Femina, at Glantor X Website, 2023, Karnataka, India. She was also awarded with Unsung Women Warrior Award, at Vibha Educational Institute Corp, 2023 Karnataka, India.
Personal Insights:
Often women have to juggle between personal and professional life, and some women may leave their work, while others have a supporting husband who supports their career and helps them perfectly balance work and life. Dr. SV Janani has a supportive husband and contributes a lot. Only because of his care towards their children, she can have a peaceful work-life balance.
She believes there should be a healthy boundary between work and personal life. Her mantra to life is it is completely okay that if you don’t satisfy everyone and to handle difficult situations “Either accept or ignore”.
Impact and Vision:
To have a respectable career in mental health, you have to create a great relationship between you and your client. According to Dr.SV Janani, you have to be flexible toward the client's perspective, with this technique, you can make them understand what is needed at the moment, and as a psychotherapist, you have to have a smiling face so that your patient can feel safe to express their feelings and what is bothering them.
Talking about the future Dr.SV Janani feels that everyone should be aware of mental health issues and believes that mental health is a real issue so that we can openly talk about it and help the persons who are dealing with such issues.
